What we do here

The rooms that belong to everyone.

Community halls have to do everything with limited budgets and no dedicated technician. The PA system that covers the Tuesday yoga class has to handle the Friday night performance. The stage lighting that serves the amateur dramatic society has to be simple enough for a volunteer to operate.

We understand community venues because we’re based in one — Burnley. Most of our community clients are within a short drive of our workshop on Parker Lane. We design systems that community groups can actually use, and we keep them running for years.

Service & maintenance

Community venues deserve long-term support.

A village hall can’t afford to lose its PA before a big event. We offer straightforward service contracts for community venues — planned maintenance visits, priority call-outs, and straightforward pricing.

Common questions

Community sector — frequently asked questions

What AV do you install in village halls and community centres?

We install PA and speech-reinforcement systems, hearing loops, portable and fixed stage lighting, projection and display systems, and wireless microphone systems for village halls, community centres and civic buildings. Community venues are multi-use spaces — the same hall hosts a Mothers' Day service, a wedding reception and an amateur dramatics rehearsal in the same week. We design systems that are simple enough for non-technical users to operate across all of those events.

Do you install AV systems for local theatres and performance spaces?

Yes. Local theatre and performance-space AV is a specialism of ours — we've installed PA, stage lighting, dimmers, rigging and projection for community theatres, studio spaces and civic performance venues across Lancashire. We know how to specify for a room that has to work for drama, music, community meetings and hired events, and we design the control systems to be manageable by whoever is running the show that night.

Can you help with AV for civic events and outdoor occasions?

Yes. We supply and operate AV for civic events, outdoor occasions and temporary installations. If you're planning a community event and need temporary PA, projection or display, get in touch — we can advise on whether temporary hire or a permanent installation makes more sense for the frequency and scale of events you're running.

Do you work near Burnley and in the Ribble Valley?

Yes — this is our heartland. Opus AV has been based on Parker Lane, Burnley since 1979. Many of our community sector clients are within a few miles of the workshop. We know the buildings, the village halls, the civic spaces and the people who run them. We're a local firm working on local buildings — and that matters when you need someone on site quickly or want engineers who understand the area.

What's the smallest community AV project you take on?

There's no minimum project size. We've fitted a single hearing loop in a small chapel and we've done full stage and PA fit-outs for community theatres. If you've got a space and a problem — audio that doesn't reach the back, lighting that doesn't work for events, a projector that's ten years old — give us a call. We'll tell you honestly whether it's worth replacing or upgrading, and what it would cost.
